We Wabi are on a journey to inspire curious living by creating access to one-of-a-kind objects, awe-inspiring spaces and original experiences. Their unique collections of custom items are produced with raw materials, giving them charm and character. They embody that of a life that is already living.
Founders Mark and Liz have already woven their collective energy into a number of projects, including little h cafe, Little Bay Bar + Eatery and Meelup Farmhouse. Following their young daughter’s diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy, the purpose for their next project was clear; We Wabi would be a true reflection of their values and approach to life.
We kicked off this project with an exploration into We Wabi’s brand mission, target audience, competitors, user personas, user pain points + other strategic features. We Wabi offer products, services and an airbnb. So we proposed a website architecture that would encourage conversions for each of these, without being overwhelming.
We worked with The SSTUDIO to create cohesive branding and bespoke layouts that truly captured the essence of We Wabi.
After analysing the key features and functionality, we decided to use Broadcast theme as a base for this project. We select our base theme after considering the specific functionality required for each project, and write CSS code to achieve the desired look and feel. Where the Broadcast theme structure and layouts didn’t meet our needs, we built custom sections using Liquid (Shopify’s templating language) so that We Wabi can easily update their site in the future.
We Wabi was featured on Grand Designs New Zealand, and is associated with Liz & Mark’s well known hospitality venues in WA, so a logo marquee helps us to showcase the brand’s reputation and credibility.
We created categories for the Grand Designs Collection, as well as for Liz and Mark’s hospitality venues Little Bay, Little h & Meelup Farmhouse. We know that a lot of site traffic comes from these referral sources when customers experience We Wabi furniture in these venues.
Owner Liz specialises in home interiors + hospitality design and consulting. So to share her expertise and boost customer confidence, we used metafields & Liquid to create a dynamic section within the product page template where Liz could enter her style notes for each of her pieces.
